Hip thrusts have become increasingly popular with celebrities trying to get that bigger butt and there are a number of reasons for this:
Hip thrusts improve the size, strength and definition of the glutes
They increase acceleration and endurance
They increase squat power by building strength in the glutes and quads
They improve functioning in the entire body, as glutes influence feet, ankles, knees, hips and pelvic mechanics
Hip thrusts are extremely easy to execute, simply lie on a solid floor (you may want a mat on hard flooring), keeping your knees at 90 degrees, raise your hips off the floor and clench the glutes at the top; be sure to focus on your glutes here and not your lower back or hamstrings. Finish the movement with your hips as high as possible, then release, keeping tension on the glutes on the way down and then repeat! It’s that easy, and once you’ve perfected the technique, this is sure to be the ‘go to’ exercise in you quest for a bigger butt.
